Snare: snareBright, snareVerb, snareRattle, snareThick, snareMonoDirect, etc. Kick: kickBright, kickSlam, kickDepecheMode, kickHarsh, kickSoftcore, kickThump, etc. Personaly, I cant work just in general folders, if the folders don't have a descriptive or unique title I'll never remember which Snare 3 or which Heavy kick is my favorite.Īll of my drum samples are in one folder. Its a lot of folders and I imagine most people would have trouble managing it. I normally will chop anywhere from 20 to 30 rex files in a sitting so these are arranged matter of factly Recyle I, Recycle II, and so on. Recycle Chops - These are all Rex files and are normally chopped versions of files from the Samples of Librarys folder. There also a ton from magazines titled accordingly, i.e. These are organized by title, and left organized as they would be. ![]() Librarys - These are samples from commercial CDs and librarys. Cardboard box through 57 (with a date as I have a few of these) or Black Ceasar Soundtrack. Folders within the samples folder are oranized according to the source, i.e. Samples - These are raw samples recorded into the computer using Audition either from turntable, guitar, mic etc. Well I use ableton and FL Studio 8 and they both allow for multiple browser starting points. i loaded the HD up with a bunch of single kits, but when i get bored i'll go through and make kits, then save those kits (with samples) to a separate drumkits folder.ĭuplicates files, but the mpc can't find samples if you store programs inside a different folder. Ronbasically it's up to you how to store them. I wanna hope the file hierarchy is well thought out and I won't end up with a huge disorganized mess (again!). I have no idea how the MPC organizes banks, pads, sounds. I have a MPC1000 coming today with an internal 80Gb HD. My idea was to do a screening of all those drums, find sounds that work well together and organize them in kits.īut so far I've done only a few, hopefully I'll motivate myself to do more. ![]() In the middle of the creative process it would help a lot not to have to scroll thru thousands of one-shot drums. I simply find it non intuitive to have to audition 1000's of say kick drums, only to pick one that's great on its own but won't fit with the snare at all. Beyond having sounds organized in folders I feel the most important aspect of all this is how to access them or make them readily playable.
